Catherine F. Yakle, aged 84 years, of Wapello, died Monday January 21, 2019 at her home. The daughter of John A. and Elizabeth Feeny Connor, she was born on July 17, 1934 in Red Bank, New Jersey. She was the youngest of thirteen children. She married Daniel McKay ‘Danny’ Yakle on December 5, 1955 in Red Bank, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2017.

Catherine graduated from High School in New Jersey and worked as a bank teller after graduation. She was the owner of Kate’s Ceramic Store in Wapello, Iowa and worked at Casey’s, Tri State Envelope, the Wapello Sale Barn and farmed with her husband Danny. Her hobbies included ceramics, painting, puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Catholic faith.

Her family includes three sons: Daniel & Cindy Yakle and David & Susan Yakle both of Wapello, and Steve & Roxy Yakle of Winfield; 7 grandchildren, Scott & Cassandra Yakle, Brian Yakle, Travis & Emily Yakle, Kimberly & Sean Adams, Kayla & Jarad Kraft, Christopher Yakle, and Allison Yakle; 4 great-grandchildren, Daniel J. Yakle, Caisey Yakle, Dayne Hogue, and Zoey Hogue; and a special niece Kathleen Shawlinski of Cape Canaveral, Florida.


Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Danny, and 12 siblings.

The funeral for Catherine Yakle will be on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 10:30 AM at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, Iowa with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the Wapello Cemetery.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was privileged to have met her in her home. I know that she is reunited with her husband now for eternity and take some comfort in that knowledge.

So very sorry for your loss. We had such a wonderful time at Lake Odessa with your parents. I especially remember your mom and her raccoons. What a fabulous lady. Sure do wish we could go back to our cabin days again..
Times have sure changed everything.
I have some ceramics your mom made for my mom. They are so treasured!!

We just received our Wapello Republican and saw that Catherine had passed away. We are so sorry to hear this as we had lots of fun talks at the farm. May all her sons and their families have wonderful memories.
