Calvin Allworth Parsons, age 70, of Wapello, died Friday morning, February 16, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.  The son of Bernard and Maxine Allworth Parsons, he was born on April 15, 1947 in Burlington.  Calvin married Felicitas ‘Fely’ Reyes on August 21, 2002 in the Philippines.

Calvin graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1965 and attended Luther College.  He worked as an ironworker with the Rock Island Local working for J & J Steel.  He then managed the Allworth Lumber Yard in Mediapolis and later was an over the road truck driver for several years.

Calvin had served with the Wapello Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in Canada.  He enjoyed and loved his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife, Fely; a son, Bradley & Sarah Parsons of Mediapolis; a daughter, Brook & Mickey Walker of Gaithersburg, Maryland; a son, Lance & Lindsay Parsons of Burlington; a step-daughter, Monica & Kevin House of Sterling Heights, Michigan; five grandchildren, Samantha Parsons, Mackenzie Parsons, Leila Walker, William Parsons, and Crystal Parsons; another grandchild expected soon; a brother, Kirby & Shelly Parsons of Sperry; his nieces and nephews; his step-mother, Carol Parsons of Wapello; and two step-brothers, Mark Stephens of Wapello and Jay & Debbie Stephens of Tucson, Arizona.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two step-brothers, Dennis and David Stephens.

The funeral ceremony for Calvin Parsons will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.  Pastor Dan Doolin will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery with a lunch to follow at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Cremation has been fulfilled.  The family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts will benefit the Wapello Volunteer Fire Department and the American Heart Association.

Dear Fely, So sorry to hear of Calvin's passing. He was a very good man and will be missed by everyone who knew him. You brought him joy these last 16 years, so he had a good life. Blessings to you and his family.

Went to high school with Calvin. He was always good humored and warm hearted with everyone. Always well remembered over the years.
