John Warren Hess, age 47, of Wapello, died Sunday morning, January 21, 2018, at his home.  The son of Warren and Jeannie Slusher Hess and step son of Margaret Hess, he was born on March 26, 1970 in Cedar Rapids.  He grew up in Paoli, Pennsylvania and graduated from Carson Long Military Academy in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania.  He married Joann Lowe on September 9, 1995 in Cedar Rapids.  They later divorced.

John was a chef and restaurant owner of Johnnie B’s in Wapello.  He enjoyed golf, fishing, the Wapello community sports, and going to the casino.

His family includes his father, Warren Hess of Bluffton, South Carolina; four siblings, Kelly Hansen of Marion, Kim Hansen of Cedar Rapids, Eric Hess of Charles City, and Tami Helmintoller of Greer, South Carolina; a step sister, Lori Paul of West Branch; a step brother, Brian Davidson of Cedar Rapids; and step father, Rocky & Lollie Davidson of Wapello.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannie Davidson; a nephew, Adam Clausen; and step mother, Margaret.

Cremation will be fulfilled and the family is arranging a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Johnnie B’s beginning at 12:00 noon.

Memorial gifts will benefit the Muscatine Humane Society.

I am deeply saddened for the loss I was a former worker of John and it was a pleasure too know and work with him he was my friend and the best boss that anyone could ask for i will miss him
