Harry J. Heater, age 82, of Morning Sun, died Sunday evening, December 20, 2015, at the Great River Medical Center.  The son of Harry and Callie Knight Heater, he was born on July 30, 1933, in Wapello.  He married Sally L. Nott on September 5, 1953 in Washington.

He attended schools in Wapello and Columbus Junction where he graduated.  He worked at IAAP in Middletown for 17 years and then went into general contracting as he owned and operated H & H Drywall.

He enjoyed his dogs, fish pond, his work, and umpiring softball, the Cowboys, Yankees, and Hawkeyes.  He was devoted and loved his wife, Sally dearly.

His family includes his wife, Sally; three sons, Kirk Heater of Wapello, Mark Heater of Joy, Illinois, and Dave Heater of Wapello; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Heater of Muscatine.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.

There will not be any visitation or funeral service.  Following cremation, his family plans a private burial service at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Memorial gifts will benefit the Morning Sun Community Ambulance and the Wapello Community Ambulance.

So sad to learn of this today. I am going to spend some time thinking about some happy memories of Harry. My condolences for Sally, Dave, Mark and Kirk.
