Ricky David ‘Rick’ Brown, age 55, of rural Columbus Junction, died Thursday afternoon, March 1, 2018, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.  The son of Beverly Brown, he was born on July 8, 1962, in Iowa City.  Rick attended Columbus Community Schools.  He married Terri L. Fread on August 21, 1982 in Columbus City.

Rick worked as a farmhand and thoroughly enjoyed tending to his farm animals.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushrooming, playing pool, and gardening.  Special for him were his granddaughters and his sons with their racing and demo derby activities.  He loved spending time with friends and family including his friends at dialysis at West Burlington.

His family includes his wife, Terri; his parents, Beverly and Delbert Finley, Jr. of Wapello; three sons, Josh Brown & Megan Garner of Columbus Junction, Joe & Sarah Brown of Wapello, and Jacob & Courtleigh Brown of Morning Sun; his three granddaughters, Braylynne Brown, Jadelynn Brown, and Macy Johnson; a sister, Rita & Rick Sparrow of Winfield; and a brother, James ‘Jim’ & Sherry Wagner, Sr. of Morning Sun.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Anna Brown; and a sister, Charlotte Jackson.

The funeral ceremony for Rick Brown will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Pastor Chester Grogan officiating.  Burial will follow at the Columbus City Cemetery.

Visitation with the family meeting friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the family.

TERRI AND FAMILY your in my prayers rick will be missed dearly he was a good man he always tryed to go out of his way to help anyone in need he always wore a smile on his face and always cracked a joke

We lost touch since High school, but those were not the good-ole-days. Living life with our best friends, wives, children and grandchildren were yet to come. I remember that one time when you and I...man was that scary, but now seems its so funny. Rest in Peace my friend.
